Description
This hot-galvanized steel Fence-Post Anchor will fit a dimensional 4 x 4 post. This is purpose built hardware that saves you from having to set your corner posts in concrete, and all the mess that entails. Simply drive the spiky end into the ground and then slide your post inside. If desired the post can be easily be bolted to the anchor using the 4 holes. The length of the spike is 23-1/4", though you don't need to drive it into the ground that deeply. The post sits 6" into the anchor holder.
It can stay outside all year long, or if you're using it to create a seasonal fence (around your garden beds for example) pull it up anytime without the messy clean up of concrete. The inside diameter is 3-5/8 x 3-5/8" to give room for some wood expansion of your 4 x 4" post.
Made in Germany.

Worked great
"I used these to anchor the corner posts for some large planters I am building in my back yard. They worked great, and mean I don’t have to pour concrete which makes me very happy."
Item looks as pictured
"Have not used these yet, so can't submit a complete and honest review. Purchased to put up a fence panel between mine and my neighbors fence cut off the path and stop people from cutting across my property to short cut between the fences instead of going the normal/correct way."
Good quality product. Works well.
"Good quality, worked out great for replacing two rotten gate posts over a patio with thick stone surface. I patched the metal anchors with mortar and final look is great. The anchors are stable and the gate now operates fine. The buying experience was also great. I highly recommend this company and the post anchors I bought from them."
Would buy again.
"Pounded into the ground easily, not so easy to get them level, but managed OK I think. Very sturdy."
fence post anchor
"Great! Not that hard to install -using a 'big' hammer and block of wood-into side of road to support my mailbox. So glad I found it at Garrett Wade."
I haven't used it yet
"I haven't used it yet due to the fact that the ground is still frozen but I can see that it is an impressive piece of equipment and will certainly hold my mailbox in good fashion. It is heavy, solid and should withstand much abuse by the snowplows. What really attracted me to this was that it was galvanized so shouldn't rust out as other similar items have done quite quickly. Very pleased with it. . ."
Q&A
- What is the maximum height of post that can be used with this?
- The length of the spike is 23-1/4", so it will easily accommodate a 5 foot fence. If you are hanging a bird house or something light weight, it can be a taller post.

- I painted a Peace Pole/Garden Pole on a 4 inch square, 4 ft tall piece of white vinyl fence post. I am wondering if I put this in the ground, will my pole slide over the top of this anchor to keep my Peace Pole from blowing around in the wind? Or, will my Peace Pole slide inside of this anchor? I am trying to decide if this is what I need to display my art piece. Thank you.
- CJ, the inside dimension of the anchor is 3 5/8" and the outside dim. is 3 3/4" so your 4" pole will be too large to fit in. Thank you.
- What is the wind rating on the Fence post Anchor and it is design for a 6x8 wood fence Panels . Thank you
- Thomas, we don't have a wind rating per se. We have had good results with a lower fence with mesh panels ( I will e-mail you a photo). We made sure to bury the anchor as far in as possible and jammed small rocks around the fins for stability. I hope this helps. Thank you
- Would these work to anchor a stair rail covering 3 steps, sloping 68" inche?
- Ronni, we don't recommend it for stair rails. Pulling on the rail would probably loosen the anchor over time. Thank you.
