Description

Our new Garrett Wade one-hand Digger takes the classic design and ramps up the functionality and durability. We use an exceptionally strong Japanese stainless-steel blade that's a full 1/8" thick. We made the handle out of a tropical redwood for comfort and strength. Years ago, Japanese toolmakers pioneered this very popular “Hori-Hori” design (“Hori” means “to dig” in Japanese). A Digger is meant for gardeners, to use as a durable, everyday tool for weeding, loosening soil, and planting. With its one-side row of cutting teeth, it can even do light root-chopping. We have carried this style of Digger for decades because it functions really well. Beautifully made and a great value for your investment. Highly recommended!

We also sell this "Hori-Hori" garden digger with a US-Made Leather Sheath, available here.

Reviews

Nice feel.

"Nice weight, feels good in hand."

Exceptional Garden Tool

"Exceptional garden tool! One of two tools I carry every day. The sheath has a slight issue in that over time the point of the blade gets exposed through the bottom opening and will poke you in the leg. I used some copper wire to ‘sew’ mine shut so detritus can still get out but the point can’t, works and looks good!"

Nicholas G. (5/5)

Best tool

"I lost the digging tool I've had for AGES. So happy i could replace it through Garrett Wade. It is a hardworking, indispensable gardening tool."

Nancy S. (5/5)

Very sturdy tool

"This is a very sturdy digging tool. My husband rates it with two thumbs up. If I can get him to happily go out and dig up weeds, I consider that a major win! I too, really like this tool for digging up weeds in the lawn. It’s great for opening up bags of dirt or compost."

Hori-Hori

"It's a very well-made tool. I have bought (& lost) many of the traditional Japanese hori-horis & compared yours to my remaining Japamese one- very comparable. I will paint the handle a bright color."
