Description

Remember the classic Yankee Push Drill that was once found in every shop and every jobsite tool bag? Made by Stanley for decades until they dropped it about 15 years ago, it was made of chrome-plated solid brass, and beautifully finished. Now we have had it custom-made for Garrett Wade.

This is a beautiful, fast-working, and very special tool, made of the same materials and furnished with original double fluted bits. Every woodworker should have one of these in his or her "quiver" because it is so useful. As you push down, the bit rotates clockwise, cutting the hole, When you stop pushing, the handle springs up and the bit rotates in the other direction - essentially self-clearing.

The bits are stored in the top of the handle and are easy to access. Just slip the size you want (any one of eight - 1/16, 5/64, 3/32, 7/64, 1/8, 9/64, 5/32, 11/64") into the collet chuck, put the drill tip on the surface and push. Makes a hole up to 1-1/2" deep. The entire mechanism is protected inside the steel cover. Incidentally, if you have an old Stanley Push Drill, our Spare Set of 8 Bits should fit it.

We also now stock replacement bits, either in a complete set of 8 bits or in a 3 each pack of the four most popular (and fragile) of the smaller bits.
Set of 8 bits include one of each of the following: 1/16", 5/64", 3/32", 7/64", 1/8", 9/64", 5/32", 11/64"

great tool for the price

"excellent tool, longer than i expected, but, i have medium hands anyway. i found my old yankee push drill( thought i lost it) and the bits are interchangeable and now i have two very useful tools. one for my garage shop and one for my basement shop. makes me want to work on more delicate wood projects even more now."

I had no hopes of

"I had no hopes of finding a new Yankee drill beleiveing that they had been discontinued. Garrett wade to the rescue with a new Yankee drill and spare bits. At eighty three years old this will become a family heirloom when I'm gone and my daughter-in-law is one of the best craftsmen (crafts women?) that I have ever known. Thanks. BTW, it showed up much sooner than I had expected. \ Tom Taylor"

Like Having Hand Push Drill Available For Ease of Use

"I have had a plastic capped push drill before. I like that this is all metal, but did find the instructions on how to access the bits not well written. I had to get assistance from my brother to figure out how to access the bits. Other than that I liked having more smaller sized drill bits than my current one."

Extremely handy.

"My dad had the Stanley version of this when I was a kid. I remembered it while building some wood framed copper mailboxes and thought it would be really handy for drilling the pilot holes for the copper tacks. Looked it up and found GW made an exact replica. It worked perfectly for the mailbox projects and find myself using it in all of my furniture and cabinetry jobs. I love this thing."

Q&A

Will it ever need oiled? What would be the best oil to use?
Yes Most any including 3 in one
Does this model (69P01.01) already come with 8 bits?
Vincent, yes, 8 bits stored in the handle. Thank you.
Can this push drill hold and use Phillips and flat head screwdriver bits?
Thanks for patiently waiting for our reply. Our product specialist replied: "You cannot use the push drill a screwdriver. When you push the drill down it rotates the chuck clockwise. When you release, the chuck turns counterclockwise and no way to change the rotation. The tools that works as a screwdriver is a "Yankee" type screwdriver. That doesn't work very well as a drill." We hope this helps.
