This forged latch is not
"This forged latch is not to be confused with the many stamped metal alternatives. Quality is excellent and it's built to last. As seen in the picture of the "'gate latch," the required tolerance between the latch arm and keep is close. Its current size may be better suited for a cabinet, closet or louver door than some (outdoor) gates. A slightly longer latch throw might work better for most gates. Still, if fit is not an issue, and the rustic look appeals, this latch will fill the bill nicely. Lack of right of left hand versions wasn't a factor in our particular application. The simplicity of using gravity pivot, rather than more complicated, spring mechanisms, for closure is a quaint and clever feature. Short of wearing through the rivet pivot in the next hundred years, there's not much to go wrong. As noted by others, screws not included and shipping that costs half the price of the product is not a very creative approach to marketing, and a likely cause for pause by some before checkout. Then again, stock is currently sold out. Room for improvement aside, this is a far better latch than what is typically available locally. I'd buy again."
