Great knife for price!
"This is an excellent everyday knife for me. This is the second one I bought - I lost the first! Thin in the pocket, feels great, very sharp and easy to open."
Character Translation and Review
"Case: 登録商標(the first four small characters): ""Registered Trademark"" 肥後守: ""Governor of Higo"" (The company, so-named in honor of the lord of the province where the knife originated) 定駒: ""Kanekoma"" (the mark of the knife's maker) Blade: 青紙: ""Blue Paper"" (The extremely high quality steel used in the blade) 割込: ""Warikomi"" (The forging method; in this case, a hard steel spine clad in softer steel outer layers) As for the knife, it embodies everything that is remarkable about Japan: the same method used for over 100 years, simple, reliable, excellent materials and craftsmanship, and absurdly affordable for the level of quality. This is one of those products (and there are many made in Japan), that I feel humbled and grateful to even have the opportunity to handle, much less own."
I'm liking this knife.
"This knife is fun, not fancy. I like the simplicity of the design, like something made a hundred years ago to be inexpensive and functional. The blade is razor sharp, and I like being able to see the lamination line. It has been lightly used for opening packages and such, and is holding an edge well. I did glue a small piece of leather inside the case where the edge might touch and I'm ready to roll. I would like to have a translation of the characters stamped in the case."

Beautiful design
"I love the craftsmanship and simplicity of this knife. The blade cuts the way it was designed and I use this as a useful tool to sharpen my pencil when needed. I like that the blade opens slow and methodically."

Cuts like a knife.
"I have not had it that long. Has worked like it's supposed to. I like the simplicity of it, that was why I bought it. I have not needed to cut anything robust yet and have only used it opening packages."

Q&A
- What is the piece at the top of the knife? It looks something like a hook or loop but since there is only one photograph of the case I can't tell. Also, does the hole at the bottom of the case go completely through the with the blade in the case?
