The 3" long hook gives this hatchet a serious and striking appearance, while adding heft to your down swing when splitting and chopping. The hook needs a little more work. It will take a while to get used to how it swings since it is balanced a little different because of the hook. I bought it for an emergency axe in my truck, and expect it to be a handy tool for downed limbs."
