Five tools: a 9-1/2″ Japanese Ryoba saw, four chisels (1/4, 1/2, 3/4 and 1″) with tip guards and a denim roll, a No. 60-1/2 low angle block plane, a No. 4 smoothing plane and a classic adjustable spokeshave. There is no sharpening stone, mallet or square in the set.
Yes. It covers the basic jobs of hand tool woodworking: sawing, chopping joints, flattening, trimming and shaping. If you have only used Western saws, the Ryoba cuts on the pull stroke, so allow a few practice cuts.
The No. 60-1/2 block plane is small, low angle and used in one hand, for end grain, edges and trimming. The No. 4 is a two-handed bench plane, 9-1/2″ long with a 2″ blade, for smoothing faces before finishing.
Eventually, yes. Every edge tool dulls with use. The chisels are hardened to Rc 57-59, and plane irons and chisels hone on the same stones. Sharpening stones are not included.

"I ordered Master-Select Crafts Tool Set because it had a nice variety of tools. Unfortunately, the quality of the tools is disappointing. The tool case came broken with some of the tool accessories loose and the hammering block completely ripped out of the case. Small handheld vise after first use the handle broke off. The hammer has a massive dent on the striking surface and small the sheet metal sheer latch is completely powder-coated shut. I'm not sure what is going on, but the quality of these tools is subpar even for Chinese products."

- Hello: I am looking at getting a gift for our President's retirement. The owner would like to find some high-end woodworking tools with an engraved bag or wood box. There are a couple options that I am looking at and they seem to come in a wood box but I can't tell what the front of the box looks like. Can they be personalized? Can your 6-drawer chests be personalized? Thank you, Cheryl
- Cheryl, The Woodworker set does come with a wooden box but it has a large Garrett Wade logo on it. The 6 Drawer chest would be an excellent choice. Easily personalized with a brass plate engraved with his name or whatever. Brass plate could be procured locally from a Trophy supplier or Things Remembered
- Does the storage box in the photo come with the set?
- The 2 planes and the spoke shave comes in the wooden box. The Chisels come in a Denim tool roll and the balance is loose
