The sleeve guarantees that the bit is entering absolutely vertically (what a good thing this is when working over your head). Plus all the drilling debris is captured inside the sleeve. No dust on you, on the floor, on adjacent surfaces – anywhere. Twist drills from 5/32 to 15/32" and from 4 to 12mm will fit one of its 1" deep guide-sleeves. Huge value.

"Have used this for holes in the wall and ceiling. Find the hole that most closely fits your bit because if the hole is much larger than the bit diameter, you could still get some lateral movement in the drill bit and drill and (minimally) crooked hole. That said, it's a great improvement over drilling freehand and I highly recommend. It's easy to use and inexpensive. Doesn't really control drywall dust all that well in my experience, but small tradeoff for drilling straight holes. I would recommend."
