Description
Coffee aficionados rave about Burr-Style grinders for one reason: they break up the bean in a more uniform size and shape (versus blade grinders), without heating them up and changing the flavor. Simply put, Burr grinders producing significantly more consistent, smooth tasting coffee. Besides effortlessly grinding coffee beans, it looks absolutely fabulous. Made of cast iron with a beechwood base, it's heavy enough to stay anchored while you grind. The beans fit in the reservoir at the top and a spring-tab mechanism allows you to adjust the coarseness of your grind. Turning the large wheel hand-crank produces high torque at low speed. A cone-configuration of tempered steel teeth crush the beans. When they reach the proper size, your ground coffee falls into a wooden drawer at the bottom. Expensive for sure but very special. Weighs 12 lbs., Dimensions: 13" x 8 1/2;" x 8" Air shipping not available. (for our Green version of this item, see SKU 57A01.11)

Trespade Coffee Mill
"Other than it taking longer to make my morning half pot of coffee, I have never had better coffee in my entire life. My electric grinder recently died on me and I learned that it was because of its poor design (motor under coffee fed hopper). It produced alot of fine grind that worked its way into the motor and into my morning coffee. I didn't realize how bitter these fines were making my coffee until trying a manual grinder. After alot of research I decided to go with this grinder for its the only manual grinder with a +100g capacity for a whole pot of coffee. It took a few brews to dial in the grain size and break in the consistency but now it produces the most consistent grind I've ever seen from a coffee grinder. This thing is also cast iron and sturdy. It feels as though it will outlive me. I was worried about the catch box at the bottom making a mess but it really hasn't been a big deal at all. It may seem spendy, but you are getting what you pay for. A lifetime of excellent coffee."

Works very good. Very smooth.
"Works very good. Very smooth. Very consistent grind. Have not used the nicer elec grinder since I got this. Really enjoy it."
Love this Coffee Mill
"Although I only gave this four stars, the grinder itself is absolutely beautiful and works efficiently and smoothly. The four-star review is for the following: Owner manual is not specific to this large, fly wheel cast grinder and we had to guess on how to adjust the grind, for example. Then, when I requested a call about this issue, it took several days for a return call and the message that was left me made no mention of why I called in the first place. I have not called a second time. The only other issue with the actual unit, is that there is some wastage of coffee as the drawer does not contain all of the ground coffee. I will just work to contain and use. On the plus side, I can definitely tell the difference in the taste of my finished brewed coffee because of the benefit of the conical burner and it it’s gentle effect on the actual coffee Bean. No excessive heat to alter flavor. One reviewer mentioned, they were disappointed that a coupon came after they purchased; it is a very expensive piece and I too, would have preferred to have saved a little bit more. I missed the free shipping by one day. That would’ve helped."
Good product
"Good product"
love using this grinder! as
"love using this grinder! as fast as electric, and so much more satisfying. very much worth the price."
Worth every penny
"Yes, it's expensive, but worth it. The large flywheel and burr mechanism is balanced perfectly so that grinding is smooth and effortless. The copper and wood are high quality as well as the craftsmanship. I get the idea this is so well made maybe my heirs may have to replace the burrs someday, but otherwise this grinder will last centuries. The coffee grinds come out evenly ground and not crushed and uneven. My Black Rifle coffee tastes bolder and has more aroma than before."
Easy to use and make
"Easy to use and make absolutely uniform grinding."

"This grinder is a marvel. A lovely part of the morning coffee ritual. Well done!"
Q&A
- How does this perform with coarser grinds, e.g., for a French press? Is a fine mesh filter needed to prevent sludge/fines in the coffee?
- Terry, we use the grinder here in our office every day for both French press and filter and it works very well. Thank you.
- Looks like a good product with good reviews. Where is it actually made? In the good old USA or china?
- It's made in Italy.
