Before the advent of the chainsaw, these large cross-cutting saws performed all log-bucking duties. That is, you would use it for sawing up the trunks of large, felled trees into smaller pieces that would then be split. The power produced by the 36" long, 1.5 mm thick blade, can be used to easily saw through wet and dry logs. The aggressive teeth are filed and set for cross cutting, with deep gullets every third tooth to form the so-called Great American pattern, which self-clears debris and dust as you work. The first 5" of the blade are smaller, starter teeth. Slight rocker curve allows for smooth action. Designed for one-man operation, with a special 6" long screw-on auxiliary handle for two-hand usage. Both handles are made of beech. Best for wide diameter trunks. The Great American is a quieter, greener, and safer option than gas powered chainsaws.

"I've always wanted a crosscut saw so buying the crosscut saw the maroon combo was a good decision I also bought the Italian felling 🪓 axe everything works wonderfully so I say that not having used the crosscut saw to a large extent just used it and tried it for a few minutes that's one of those things that will wear you out quickly if you don't learn how to use them properly The filling axes awesome it feels good to use it in the Pickering is perfect I have a all-metal stihl and now this one this one's a little longer it feels good swinging she's used it a few times I'm glad that I was able to buy all three of them before they were not on sale anymore definitely happy with my purchase"

"When I got the saw and used it for the first time with no adjustments it did not cut. It would bind into the wood within the first inch. After considerable time jointing, setting and filing the teeth to get them sharp I got it to cut smoothly. It is a great saw, but be prepared to work on it to get it set up."
