Description

These two are a matched pair. They will provide excellent service on all personal or kitchen knives and other cutting edge tools. The double-sided Diamond surfaces are graded 360 and 600 grit – for coarse and semi-coarse sharpening: dull edge, chips in the edge etc. The 360 grit side is also ideal for re-flattening either side of the corundum whetstone by rubbing one surface against the other if the stone ever becomes dished in the middle.

The Carborundum Whetstone is graded as 1000 and 3000 grit. It is used for honing and polishing the cutting edge. Water is the lubricant for all.

Corrected a Chipped Knife's Edge

"The coarse diamond plate ground the chipped edge of the blade of a stainless kitchen knife so that the edge was once again smooth. Then the fine diamond plate and the water stone brought it to a sharp edge."

Great quality and value!

"I bought these stones on sale, and I’m really impressed with the quality/price ratio. I love restoring old hand tools; these really come in handy for my hobby."

Sharpening stones

"Good quality. Extra width makes sharpening easier. Bought primarily for a straight razor. 1000 and 3000 grit are perfect."

Sharpening Away

"I found that both stones can go hand-in-hand with taking a dull knife down to a respectable blade that will cut most anything needing to be cut."

Q&A

Are the stones and base a standard size? I also want an 8000 stone, and of course some day I may need replacement stones. So I’m wondering if it’s a size widely available. Thank you!
Honor, there isn't really a standard size for sharpening stones. They tend to be in the 2"to 3" x 7" to 8" range. However they do last a long time. I've never had to change mine , just need flattening occasionally. thank you.
