This stoneware baking cloche can serve two purposes: (1) Outside the oven, use it as a vessel for your bread dough to rise; and (2) inside the oven, as a baking cloche that heats up, to produce the crusty outside and chewy inside of all great round loaves. It’s the ideal choice for breads like sourdough, rustic country loaves, and soda bread.
With a simple yet beautiful Dominion pattern of navy stripes on a cream background, you’ll want to display this American-made bread baking stoneware even when you’re not using it. When not baking, we suggest putting the cloche to daily use as an ad hoc bread box. Sourdough, anyone?
Cloche Specifications
Local Ohio clay is first glazed to perfection before producing the contemporary and comfortably nostalgic bread cloche. It’s oven, microwave, and dishwasher-safe, and finished off with lead-free, food-safe glaze. The bottom diameter measures 10-¾” to allow for massive loaves and plenty of proofing. Fired at 2000 degrees this baking cloche can withstand temps up to 550 degrees.

- I was gifted a cloche and use it frequently but the bottom cracked and is no longer usable . Can I buy a replacement bottom? Also I wonder if if cracked because I used steam in the oven? Is that not advisable?
- Mary, the most likely cause of cracking is putting a cold cloche into a hot oven , or putting straight in cold water after baking. Do you remember when you ordered the cloche ? I can check to see if any other customers have had a problem with this batch of cloches. Thank you.
