"I have a MUCH older version of something like this. We have a gas stove, so that's what I'm using them on. In comparison: This one is square, which is smarter than my older one, which is round. When you close the round one, the corners of a typical slice are cut off. This wastes some of the bread unless you somehow have a round loaf. You can put an entire slice into this one without wasting any of the bread, which is very convenient, and also allows more filling! The flip side is that the aluminum body is very thin in comparison to my other one. This has a plus (it heats up quickly) and a minus (it doesn't hold heat as well as the thick body of the other). Overall, I really DO like this so far. I've made a couple of sandwiches in it, and it toasted the bread very nicely, and also didn't stick in the slightest. I look forward to using it again."

"Just rec'd the item and I super please with the overall quality. The cast aluminum is clean, the hinge is solid and the thick round steel bar handles with wood grips feel good in the hand. It also locks securely. I made a grilled Spam sandwich just to try it out - Awesome!!! Super fast (about 3-4 minutes total), nice grill marks and easy to clean. The best part is that it holds large slices of bread! Thanks Italy for building such a great product! I'm proud to be Paisan!!!"
