Description

If you drop by your local hardware store and ask for a hook-and-eye latch, you’ll get something cheap and unremarkable in every way. If you’re looking for something truly spectacular, there’s no other option but the wrought iron latch at Garrett Wade. Every component of our latch is handmade and hammered into a spiral using oil-quenched black iron. It is geometric perfection!

The serpentine shape of this latch is the ideal way to secure a simple garden gate or keep rustic cupboards closed. Whatever use you find for this piece, we’re sure it will add a hint of style and a provincial aesthetic to your space.

Wrought Iron Latch Specifications

The iron latch is 8” long and it’s installed with a 5 3/4” latch arm. You can easily mount it for either left- or right-side opening with just a single nail on each side. Use it on a gate or fence that’s definitely in need of some style.

At Garrett Wade, you’ll find tons of tools and products that can play a major or minor role for your everyday needs. Shop garden accessories as well as kitchen essentials and so much more today!

4 should've been a 5

"I gave this product a 4 rating because it came without any extra hardware to mount the latch, i. e. , screws but this gave me the satisfaction of beguiling my wife with the story of hunting down just the right 2 screws from all the thousands of screws I have saved for just this purpose. This is a large, heavy metal latch that I needed for my work shed door to replace the cheap *ss latch that the last owner put on the door in the 1960s which gave up the ghost on a day of 26 mph winds. Its a charmer."

Spiral hook and eye latch

"It’s very well made and beautiful to look at, but for the use I had intended it for, it’s too large! Sorry I need to return it. Do you have any return label for me?"

Q&A

How thick is the spiral hook and eye latch. They would be applied to the back side off doors mounted like barn doors so limited clearance between door and wall when the doors are open.
Louise, the parts are 5/16" , the eye protrudes just under 1" Thank you.
