The ladder is constructed of 6063 alloy aluminum with 9 self-locking treads that are 12" wide and feature innovative flip-down Finger Safety Guards - a welcome improvement over all other models that we tested.
It has a uniform 12" distance between treads when fully extended. Overall weight of the 8-1/2' ladder is 17 lbs. The optional nylon storage/carry cases with handle are recommended.
