Do you really travel the world looking for tools?

We really do. Call us obsessed, but we believe that the quest for the perfect tool means looking everywhere, from around the globe to right here in our own back yards. We also believe that the difference between a new design and a classic design is not as important as the difference between bad and good design. We’ve found that quality craftsmanship, no matter when or where it’s made, is timeless.

What if the item I want is out of stock?

We work hard to maintain stock on our over 3,500 items. With over 300 factories in a dozen countries, it is inevitable that products will be out of stock now and then. In this global pandemic, staying in stock has been harder than ever before. Factories are maintain strict social distancing, raw materials are in short supply, and the infrastructure to move goods has been constricted. If we are out of stock on something, we ask you to be patient. Please know we are pushing to get goods in quickly and in a timely manner.

If an item is expected in our warehouse within the next 21 days, we will process and charge your order when it’s placed. Everything in-stock ships ASAP (usually within 1 business day), the rest of your order will ship as soon as the item(s) are in our warehouse. If the item is due in after 21 days, it’s not orderable at this time. We ask that you sign up on the product page with your email address and you will be the first to get notified when it’s in stock. We won't forget your request. You can cancel a backorder at any time by notifying us by phone, mail, fax or e-mail. And remember, everything we sell is returnable for a full product refund for 90-days after you receive it.

Will I be charged additional shipping for a backordered item?

Orders to USA addresses are assessed only one shipping charge per order. There is no additional shipping charge for backordered items. However, orders to destinations outside the USA will be held and shipped complete.

How do I order by phone or fax?

Ordering by phone is easy, using either our print or online catalog, and may be done 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. You can also fax your order. A fax is an efficient way to send your order (and you get to keep a copy).

If applicable and when noted, there can be the following additional charges:

  • Sales Tax if shipped to a Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, New York State, Ohio, and South Carolina address
  • If air service is requested, there is an additional fee.
  • When noted, some very heavy or larger products ship by freight truck (LTL).
  • Ground surcharges apply when indicated for certain overweight or oversize merchandise such as vises, storage chests, machinery, long handled tools, etc. This is due to UPS surcharges imposed on us.
  • International Shipping for orders outside the USA. (Currently we only ship to the USA and Canada.)
  • We are required to collect & remit Sales Tax in most states

What Are My Payment Options?

We accept all major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express), PayPal, personal or business checks (U.S. funds only), and Money Orders.

If an item is expected in our warehouse within the next 30 days, we will process and charge your order when it’s placed.

Do your prices change?

We make every effort to ensure that our prices stay consistent with prices shown in our on-line and print catalogs for the indicated period, but occasionally an increase is impossible to avoid. We are not responsible for inadvertent typographical errors in descriptions or prices.

How is my personal and financial information protected while ordering?

Your privacy and security are important to us. We do not store your credit card information. We believe in providing a safe and secure experience for all of our online visitors. To that end, we have implemented security measures to protect the information collected from you. We maintain reasonable physical and electronic safeguards designed to limit unauthorized access to your personally identifiable information, and to protect you against the criminal misuse of that information. What if I need to return a purchase?

Our return policy is simple. You may return items purchased from Garrett Wade within 90 days of the date shipped for either an exchange or a refund. That’s all. We do ask that you return them in the original packaging.

Refunds, if requested, will be paid in the same fashion as your original payment. Credit Card orders typically see the credit on your card within 48 hours of being processed. If you pay by check, and the amount due is $25 or less, you will receive a Garrett Wade credit that can be applied to future orders. Check orders with a return value over $25 will receive a check in the mail at your billing address. Please follow the instructions below.

Within the U.S.A. prepaid merchandise return label is included with your purchase. If you use this label when returning merchandise, you will not have to pay for postage to Garrett Wade. Please let us know if you need additional merchandise return labels.

For fastest return service, please fill out the form on the back of your packing list and include it with any items you wish to return. If you need to return large items like workbenches or machinery, please contact us first so that we can help arrange convenient transportation.

When returning products, please give us your order number and the full name and address of the person originally placing the order, plus your instructions. Also we appreciate knowing why you are returning the item, so we can maintain the quality standards and service we are known for.

Do you charge sales tax?

Following a recent Supreme Court ruling, we are obligated by law to collect Sales Tax in most states. The amount due will be calculated at the time of orderings and added to your total. Sales Tax is officially a “Sales and Use Tax”. We are simply passing through 100% of those monies collected on our customer’s behalf. For additional information on your obligation, contact your state's government.

Following a recent Supreme Court ruling, if required, we collect tax on all shipments to locations that have Sales Tax in effect & those states obligate us to do so. The amount due will be calculated at the time of orderings and added to your total.

Most states have a “Sales and Use Tax” policy. Although we are not required by law to collect and remit this tax for shipments to other states, all customers in other states with a “Sales and Use Tax” remain obligated to remit the tax on their purchase to the appropriate revenue office in their state. This obligation is not waived if the purchase is done remotely via the internet or other out-of-state channel. For additional information on your obligation, contact your state's government.

How soon will my order be shipped?

For destinations within the U.S., we make every effort to ship your order within two business days of receive it; however, orders for machinery, workbenches, and other orders that must be shipped motor freight may take a little longer to prepare.

Is my shipment protected or insured?

Yes. An overall corporate insurance policy protects all our shipments.

When will my shipment arrive?

UPS Ground delivery generally arrive within 3 to 7 business days (depending on distance from our warehouse in Ohio). Regular shipping charges apply for ground services.

For faster service, we offer UPS 2nd Day Air and Next Day Air Service for an additional charge. (See Shipping Charges for details.)

What is the cut-off time for "next day" and "2nd day" air shipping?

For "next day" and "2nd day" air shipments, orders must be placed by 2:30 PM Eastern. Delivery time does not include weekends.

Are there restrictions on hazardous materials?

Flammables and Hazardous materials cannot be shipped by air or overseas. This includes most of our finishing materials. We are unable to ship by air large or long items.

Can I choose my own shipping method?

We must have a street address for UPS service. If you use a Post Office box, we will have to ship by Parcel Post, as UPS will not deliver to a Post Office Box

Can I get shipments to Alaska, Hawaii, and U.S. possessions?

Orders in the U.S. outside of the lower 48 states (Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, etc) have an additional charge.

What other countries do we ship to?

We ship to the United States and Canada only.

**Note: Puerto Rico will be listed in the US state dropdown. Orders shipping to Puerto Rico will be shipped via USPS and will be charged standard US shipping rates (not international).

Duties and Taxes

Orders shipping to Canada are delivered postage paid but you are responsible for any applicable Taxes & Duties. Orders are shipped via DHL Global Mail.

In the event that the buyer refuses delivery of the shipment, the buyer is responsible for payment of all return duties and taxes; in this case, return shipping charges will be billed to the buyer's method of payment. Shipping fees are not refundable for undeliverable shipments or refused shipments.

What are international shipping rates?

Shipping rates for Canadian orders are based on the weight of the items in your order. To reflect the policies of the shipping companies we use, all weights will be rounded up to the next full pound. The total amount will be reflected at checkout.

How can you track a package:

Once an order leaves our fulfillment center, we email a shipment notification with tracking information.

  • For orders shipping in the US: To obtain a delivery status, enter your tracking number at www.ups.com. Note that all US orders will be shipped via UPS (except APO/FPO). DHL is NOT an option for US customers. International order tracking:
  • For orders shipping to Canada: For Canadian orders only, track your package through www.canadapost.ca. Enter the provided tracking number into the reference number field for updated order information. You can also access this link through www.dhl.com/global-en/home.tracking.html. Click "Track by Reference Number" and enter the provided tracking number.
  • For all other international orders: UPS Worldwide Saver, enter the tracking number at www.ups.com.
  • Shipping DHL Express: To obtain a delivery status, enter your tracking number at www.dhl.com.

By ordering goods from eTailer/ supplier destined to EU-member states specifically, services will be provided to you only after you explicitly agree to become Importer of Record (“IOR”) and as such customs clearance shall be made in your name and on your behalf. As IOR, you agree to be ultimately responsible for importing the products ordered by you into the destination EU-member state and are solely responsible for the payment of duties, and taxes either at the time of sale if prepayment is selected or at the time of importation if prepayment is not selected. You hereby give a proxy or power of attorney (“POA”) to eTailer/ supplier’s designated shipping provider for the customs clearance of products ordered by you. This POA authorizes eTailer/ supplier’s designated shipping provider’s assigned customs broker to act on behalf of you. eTailer/ supplier’s designated shipping provider’s intervention with respect to customs formalities may be done by a customs agent assigned by eTailer/ supplier’s designated shipping provider on your behalf. You hereby acknowledge to have understood the concept of IOR and the need of the POA and further state that the terms of the POA or terms of the purchase from eTailer/ supplier and transportation conditions from eTailer/ supplier’s designated shipping provider are not unreasonable or unknown to you, that you have read them, understood them and further have agreed to them

Also, because of their size and weight, some orders for Machinery and Workbenches come to you by truck, with freight charges added. Charges in the 48 contiguous states of the USA should be between $110 and $275, depending on weight, distance and whether the address is a residence or in a rural area. (Note: For truck shipments we must have a daytime telephone contact number.)

What will I pay for shipping?

Different rates apply depending on delivery destination, shipment weight, and delivery speed or service. For details, see below.

What will I pay for shipments to the U.S. and its possessions?

These are the regular shipping and handling, ground service charges to addresses within the USA and possessions. (Includes parcel insurance.)

For all orders (except for Truck Shipments), and for each separate delivery address, add to the total of goods the following shipping charges:

USA Surface Shipping Charges:

$11.95 for totals up to $60.
$15.95 for totals $60.01 to $80.
$16.50 for totals $80.01 to $120.
$17.50 for totals $120.01 to $140.
$20.50 for totals over $140.

Orders can be shipped ground to AK,HI,GU and PR for twice the corresponding regular ground charge.

*All Shipping and Handling Charges are subject to increases in line with UPS and Postal cost increases. Increases may occur without prior notice.

*For "Next Day" and "2nd Day" Air shipments, orders must be placed by 1 PM Eastern.

I live outside the U.S. What shipping costs will I pay?

International Shipping Fees*

We serve thousands of customers outside the USA. For International shipping, including Canada, shipping costs are billed at actual costs plus a handling fee.

Currently, international surface mail is about $19.00 for the first pound, plus about $4.00 per pound after the 1st pound.

What about customs duties and taxes?

For most international orders customers will be presented with two shipping options during checkout:

Option 1; All Fees Pre-paid: Selecting this option you will be pre-paying all the fees which includes the shipping charge, country taxes, duties and other fees. This price quote is based upon the national laws of the country to which the order is shipping. All shipping fees, duties and taxes and brokerage fees will be paid at the time of order. There are no additional shipping charges or fees that the customer will incur after order placement.

Option 2; Shipping Only: Selecting this option you will only pay the shipping charge. You will be required to pay all taxes, duties and other fees before the driver leaves you the package.

Please note that some countries will only be presented with Option 1; All Fees Prepaid.
