Garrett Wade Yankee Screwdriver

Long one of our bestselling, most popular items, the Yankee Screwdriver was first marketed by North Brothers Manufacturing Company in 1899. It was in continuous production from various makers until Stanley UK stopped producing in in the early 2000’s. We’ve sold it since our founding in 1975 and have always been huge fans of its functionality and elegance.

We decided to bring it back, and we think, better than ever. The mechanics are similar to our equally lauded Yankee Push Drill: pressing down on the spring-loaded handle rotates the force to turn the bit in the chuck. A very cool system developed decades ago that generates a lot of power. Repeated presses drives in your screw with minimal effort, and a simple flick of a switch reverses the gearing for loosening and removing screws. Includes six, single sided bits to cover most common uses: Philips Head 1 (PH1), PH2, PH3, Flathead 4.5, Flathead 5.5, Flathead 7.0. We’ve built ours with a quick-change standard hex bit holder so it will accept any standard hex bits from your collection. The Garrett Wade model is identical to in function to previous models apart from the addition of a brass chuck, which we quite like. Measures 9 ¾” closed and 12 ½” extended. Welcome back!
