There aren’t many toolmakers who produce this traditional drilling tool, but this European maker decided to make something exceptional. Handmade in France, with solid brass hardware, a gunmetal finish on the steel, and a beautiful wooden knob made of Kotibe, an African hardwood. The all ball-bearing 3-Jaw chuck holds round or hex bits superbly, up to a half inch in diameter. The handles are comfortable and the left/right and locking ratchet is very solid. With a 10" sweep, the brace is a subtle (and quiet) drilling tool that allows you to apply a larger amount of very controlled torque. A well-made and gorgeous tool, for craftsmen who like to keep an eye on the past, by working with traditional implements.
Note: We know this is an expensive model but any devoted woodworker will prize it as a gift.
